Maintenance Support Engineer

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Support Engineer to join our high performing team, responsible for establishing, and maintaining the planned preventative maintenance system, physically managing the stores and external repair services.

In summary the role will be: 50% planning and preparing for effective planned maintenance interventions (PPM) activities. 50% managing the stores, controlling equipment service, and supporting the engineering team.


The Maintenance Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that:

  • The CMMS is developed with support of the team, creating a system that tracks and controls all aspects of maintenance activity across the site
  • They take full responsibility for the engineering stores
  • PPM tasks are scheduled for the engineers at the appropriate time
  • Materials and costs associated with reactive tasks are associated with the relevant asset
  • All relevant spare parts are available for scheduled PPM tasks
  • PPM is co-ordinated with the operations department
  • Training and support is provided to staff using the CMMS

In addition, the Maintenance Support Engineer will ensure that:

  • The engineering supervisor / engineering manager will be freed from the requirement to order spare parts.
  • An engineer using the stores will be able to quickly find parts
  • An engineer will be able to quickly identify if a part is stocked or not
  • Stores 5s routines are completed on a daily basis to ensure order is maintained and degradation of parts is prevented
  • The overall value of stock is maintained within agreed limits, with a stock accuracy >95%
  • Safety, health and environmental policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Participate in departmental meetings, making recommendations for improving the stores and preventative maintenance routines

  • Operation of the PPM system
  • Maintaining, communicating and reacting to stores and PPM KPI’s
  • Stock Accuracy
  • Stores 5s and Visual management of the stores
  • Assist with Stores and PPM project management tasks as and when required

Person Specification


  • Proven evidence of use of a CMMS
  • Computer literate, with proven evidence of use of ERP and inventory control systems
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes
  • Previous experience of using a best practice engineering stores, in a manufacturing environment


  • Proven evidence of implementing “best practice” within a maintenance environment
  • Proven evidence of a hands on approach
  • Relevant qualifications, including FLT driving licence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and respond to change
  • Applicants must have a full UK driving licence
